SummaryPosition SummaryThe Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant is responsible to provide Occupational Therapy treatments to patients/clients throughout the divisions of LH, under the direction of the Occupational Therapist in charge of the Plan of Care, Wellness/Rehab Director, and in collaboration with the Division Administration and referring Providers and patient care team.
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant follows the most current LH policy and procedures, Maine State licensing requirements, Scope of Practice, and Reimbursement Rules and Regulations relating to Occupational Therapy.
Each COTA will have a primary location, and be oriented to support other treatment areas within LH as competency and resources allow.
COTA support the Employee Health Department in the area of Employee safety education on an as needed basis as resources allow.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)Education:
Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant curriculum.
License/Certifications:
Currently or eligible to become a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board.
Currently or eligible to become a licensed OTA by the State of Maine.
Current CPR certification.
Experience:
6 months to one year of experience preferred.
New graduates accepted.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as medical records, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
