Certified Nursing Assistant, CNA/Unit Secretary-Emergency Department

  • Position Summary
    • Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse or Staff Nurse, the CNA/Unit Secretary of the Emergency Department performs various duties assisting in the care of patients in accordance with the established protocol, policies and procedures of Lincoln Health. In addition, the coordinates, organizes and prioritizes clinical and non-clinical duties of the unit by acting as a contact person, receptionist, secretary and patient access representative. Provides excellent customer services. Must be able to remain calm under stressful and emergency situations. Possesses a strong attention to detail. Will interact with a wide variety of patient and health care staff.

  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Must have keyboard experience. Graduate of a State approved CNA program. Experience with medical terminology preferred. Previous experience as CNA, and/or secretary and/or patient registration preferred.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
    • Must possess and exhibit excellent customer service, communication and telephone skills. Needs typing and computer skills at a basic to intermediate level.
    • Successfully passed the State of Maine Certifying Exam for CNA's.
    • Current Basic Life Support certification.
    • Maintains required 12 CEU hours annually.
    • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers. Ability to perform operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume and distance.
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
